GARY NEWSTED SUGGESTIONS

from January 18, 2007 Eggenfellner installation Inspection

(tips in lower case, action items in upper case)

stock extra brake pads

try to use brakes sparingly

consider braided brake lines down gear legs

don't make wheel pants too close to tire

put access hole in wheel pants, to access tire valve stems

make metal attaching wheel pants larger and/or use parge washer

fill brake reservoir no more than 3/4" from top

secure plastic lines from brake reservoir to pedals

especially, have strain relief at plastic lines to brass fittings

PUT COTTER PIN ON NOSE GEAR AND MAIN GEAR WHEELS

SET NOSE WHEEL DEFLECTION FORCE

check nose wheel axle nut tension

spacers can spin & eat nose wheel frame

drill hole thru frame & into spacer

            to keep it from spinning

placard flaps for NO STEP

SECURE FUEL & RETURN LINES AROUND PUMPS

MAKE HOLE IN FLOOR SO FUEL LEAK WILL DRAIN

            add small scoop under hole

            put screen over hole

REDO HEATER GROUND AS SEPARATE WIRE TO GROUND PLATE

each fuel pump should also have its own wire to ground plate

PROTECT BRAKE/FUEL LINES AGAINST FEET CONTACT

ADD RUBBER BOOTS TO FUEL PUMPS + LEAD

SECURE FUEL FILTERS FROM MOVEMENT

standardize my battery terminology

            "engine battery" not good

            go back to "aux battery"

CHANGE LIME GREEN WIRE AT AUX CONTACTOR FROM #12 TO #10

with engine running & both pumps on, see if wire gets warm

PUT A 200a ANL FUSE ON BATTERY + LEADS

            www.pmariner.com

run battery cable UNDER armrests

can also enclose that section by vertical panel down to floor

CHANGE FUEL PUMPS FUSE FROM 20a TO 15a

ADD A SECOND ENGINE GROUND WIRE - 6 0R 8ga OK

Joe will want to see a printed chart in fuse block area

showing what each fuse is for

MT brushes are brittle & break easily

            be careful when installing

ADD A 2 POSITION TERMINAL BLOCK ON PROP BRUSH BRACKET

            easier to swap out brushes

75w90 Mobil 1 gear oil in PSRU runs cooler than 90w140

casting line on PSRU case is good "full" level indicator

PSRU temp probe (and rad probe) notoriously inaccurate

            may need to recalibrate EIS

CHANGE PSRU OIL EVERY 100 HOURS

check old oil for metal, with magnet

let Jan know if I see any metal

MT PROP MUST BE BALANCED PRIOR TO FLIGHT

COTTER KEY ENGINE FRAME MOUNT CASTLE NUTS

WELD OR TIGHTLY CLAMP MUFFLERS TO S/S EXTENSIONS - TOO MUCH PLAY NOW

EXTEND MUFFLER/LORD MOUNT SCREWS THROUGH FLOOR

MAKE NEW LORD MOUNT PLATES OR ADD ANGLE

to tie plate to floor angles, not floor

ADD RTV UNDER LORD MOUNT PLATES

ADD MOROSO COOLANT RECOVERY CANISTER

MUST GROUND FUEL PRESSURE TRANSDUCER

PATCH HOLE IN RT RADIATOR INTAKE

watch out for breather tube adapter getting saturated & dripping

            OK to replace it

if using MAF sensor, make sure no oil in intake filter

            will scerw up MAF sensor

            wash it out

where is my old MAF sensor??

Joe will want to see emergency and preflight checklists

CALIBRATE TACH INPUT ON EIS

MAP IS ALSO WAY OFF

TRY TO BEND HEADERS DOWN SOME FOR MORE MUFFLER-FLOOR CLEARANCE
