INTERIOR - JANUARY, 2007

Jan 1 - Cut down quadrant lever tension adjuster rod, so the quadrant will fit between the LT & RT side skins.  Fabricate collar spacer for tension adjuster nut.  Fit side skins to top and fwd L1 holes; cleco, drill, countersink, dimple, prime.  Make spacer to go between B5 and top skin (instead of the L2s I am not using).  Drill, countersink, clean, prime, and rivet B and B5 spacer to console top.  Final console assembly - rivet sides and top.  Riveting with my new tungsten bucking bar went VERY well.  Install NPA-T.  Rivet & install console compartment cover.  Measure & fabricate quadrant mount spacers.  It turned out that the spacers I made fit well, but will have to be shortened, as the console base legs (F2s) are too wide now to fit the nutplates in the floor.  9.5 hr

Jan 2 - fabricate and fit several more sets of quadrant-to-console mount spacers, until I finally got it all just right.  Final length values were 0.530" and 0.270".  Clean up horribly messy bench & put away tools.  Ready now to resume fuel delivery prep on engine page.  I liked how well my SteinAir tungsten bucking bar worked, so I ordered a different shape one from Bucking Bars by Webster.  All I want to use is tungsten now.   Update web site  2.0 hr + 2.0 hr doc

Jan 4 - work on layout to put the Andair fuel selector valve onto the console top.  Adjust hole for proper fit.  Adjust Andair extension rod in small increments for proper fit.  By 0130, had it just about right.  2.75 hr + 0.5 hr doc

Here's the console in place, with the hole at the top for the Andair fuel selector valve extension (purple rod inside console).  I'd originally made the hole too small (OK) and too far fwd, as I didn't realize I'd need to come at the extension rod at an angle from the rear, not from directly above it.  I carefully moved the hole back and made the rod shorter, until it was a good natural fit.  The valve cap will cover the excess hole.

Jan 6 - get and install 3/32" roll pins for Andair extension   0.5 hr
