June, 2006 AVIONICS, ELECTRICS, & CONTROLS

June 5 - received my Waytek "correction" order, to fix the problems they made in my last order.  They STILL didn't send the right parts.  That is one screwed-up company!   Called them AGAIN.

June 14 - Work on jumper connectors to tie one side of Waytek fuse block together.   I got some "green" size Faston terminals in my ACS order, which I think are equivalent to the standard "yellow" size, but two #14 wires won't QUITE fit in them.  I will have to order some larger Faston connectors to make it work.  Finally got the correct heatshrink and parallel terminals I ordered from Waytek.  1.5 hr

June 21 - received my B&C order.  Called Waytek yet again.  Even though they'd promised to be sure to refund the shipping on my replacement order, of course they hadn't done it.   They promised yet again to correct it.   I've only done 2 orders with them, and hopefully never again, but they seem to screw up everything they touch.  Made jumpers for E-bus.  The Faston connectors I got from B&C are a much better fit than the ones from ACS, although the ACS ones seem to be some sort of high quality, dual wall terminal.  Labeled 2 main busses and E-bus.  Installed E-bus.  I spent some time pondering how the busses will be hooked up.   I will have to redo part of the E-bus wiring, as I realized I won't just be tying it to the hot terminals on the main busses.  I also realized I should set aside one of the circuits on the E-bus fuse block as an unswitched, always-hot feed for the ECM memory.  Posted some questions, about what should be on what bus, to the Eggenfellner list.   2.75 hr

June 22 - looking at ground plates.  Carsten gave me the hardware to do one with ring terminals.  HOwever, I realized that I'd need to drill all those little holes in the firewall for the screws, so I decided to go with a Faston type ground terminal block from B&C.  0.5 hr

June 26 - receive & put away SteinAir order, battery cables.  0.5 hr

June 30 - pack up excess wire to return to SteinAir.  0.5 hr
