SEPTEMBER, 2007 AVIONICS, ELECTRICS, & CONTROLS
Sep 1 - start wiring from panel DB-37 to Sandia J5. 0.5 hr
Sep 6 - Been terribly busy with other issues mentioned in August, including getting the hangar electric and phone put in, managing the logging operation, converting my old IRAs to an LLC, and looking at real estate to buy with the IRA LLC. Made an offer on a house Tuesday, deal accepted yesterday. I've GOT to get busy on this plane again! Had a nice long talk with Eric Jones at Perihelion about the LVAABMM and noise suppression techniques. Swapped out the LVAABMM. New one works fine. 0.75 hr
Sep 7 - rewire fuse blocks so fuse block #3 is not connected to the Avionics Master switch, and is now the MAIN fuse block. Rewired starter solenoid circuit and oxy sensor circuits so they are back on the new main fuse block, rather than going through the inline fuse I used in April and August. 2.25 hr
Sep 8 - continue rewiring fuse blocks, resume wiring Sandia encoder. 4.25 hr
Sep 9 - wiring panel DB-37 to Sandia J5, power, ground. Wiring Sandia to GTX-330. Studying and correcting electrical drawings. Wire Dynon keepalive, label Dynon connector wires. Worked to 0230 updating wiring diagrams. 9.75 hr
Sep 10 - update wiring drawings. Look at GTX-330 PC connector wiring. Remove BMA CPU so I can run ground wires. Run GTX-330 ground wires. 5.5 hr
Sep 14 - got my Snapjacks from Eric Jones at Perihelion Design. Perihelion products are great - my entire electrical system is designed around Eric's products. The Snapjacks are bi-directional, and a much better replacement for suppression diodes on coils and motors.
Sep 15 - swap 10a BMA autopilot circuit breaker and 4a MT prop control circuit breaker on switches panel, so the MT breaker is next to the MT controller. Redo wires to the 2 breakers. Wire accessory outlet. Install Snapjacks onto all three contactors and onto starter solenoid. Start running additional ground wires for later use. Redo one Power Schottky diode array lead. 5.5 hr
Sep 16 - Reinstall redone Power Schottky diode array lead. Replace several DG-4 wire clamps with DG-6 as my bundles grow. Routed grounds for Garmin GNS-530W. Routed 6 more spare grounds while I had the access open to the bundle. 1.75 hr
Sep 17 - wire Sandia serial outputs, wire power to GNS-530W and GTX-330 1.25 hr
Sep 18 - put hood onto Sandia J5 connector and install it. Prep panel DB-37 connector for hood, rearrange wiring bundle. 1.25 hr
Sep 26 - been quite busy with real estate issues, logging operation issues, getting power, phone, and DSL into my hangar, and starting the hangar wiring. Also, Ken Burns' "The War" has been on PBS each evening, so I've been watching that. Got to get back to that plane!
Sep 27 - install and secure panel DB-37 hood, wire Garmin GTX-330 power to fuse 14 (5a) 1.25 hr
